The Silver Tree is an oil on panel landscape painting of a beautiful mountainous garden, with a pine forest in the background, rolling, verdant lawn with a young Silver Tree (Leucadendron argenteum) in the foreground.
This landscape oil painting of the Silver Tree was painted completely en plein air during the hours of the fading evening light. The warm glow of the clouds; the harmonious flow lines of the garden and the mountain; the gentle swish of the wind through the pines, and the songs of evening birds, created a feeling of deep peace and communion with nature and the land.
The Silver Tree is an endangered species, endemic to only certain mountain slopes on the Cape Peninsula, South Africa.
